ZX2 Thermal Modulation

The ZX2 closed cycle refrigerated loop modulation system eliminates the need for liquid nitrogen for thermal modulation. The ZX2 employs a closed cycle refrigerator/heat exchanger to produce -90°C at the jet. The ZX2 modulates volatile and semi volatile compounds over the C6+ range. The ZX2 permits the setting of the secondary column temperature independently of main oven, and offers easy, drop-in column installation, using simple press-fit connections. The ZX2 is able to hold two secondary columns of up to 20m each. Capillary column dimensions of 0.32mm ID or less can be used throughout.  No liquid cryogen is needed for the cold jet. Therefore, the ZX2 is easy to install, and operates with low running costs. The ZX2 can be uninstalled to allow the GC to be used for other methods. Therefore it is not necessary to have a dedicated GC. Two-stage thermal modulation is achieved by using a continuous cold jet flow and a regularly pulsed hot jet to deflect the cold jet and remobilize trapped effluent.
