GDA First Response

The portable Gas Detector Array first response is a battery operated analytical instrument specifically designed to measure and monitor most common gases. This instrument is used by Police, Fire Departments and many different operators from public security. The GDA has been designed for the detection and identification of Toxic Industrial Compounds (TICs) and Chemical Warfare Agents (CWAs), presents in terrorist attacks, toxic spillage, chemical plants incidents or arsons. This instrument will facilitate the security perimeters and their monitoring, the determination of risk atmospheres, zones with spillages or leaks, preventive protection, or contamination detection in surfaces, protection suits, all in real time.  

The instrument is portable and is manufactured in compact format. Include four detection technologies, that are coordinated, and permit the unequivocal determination of the interested compounds (IMS, PID, EC, MOS)

 

The on-line analysis instrument GDA permit the detection, identification and quantification of organic volatiles compounds in air. . Include four detection technologies that are coordinated, and permit the unequivocal determination of the interested compounds. These detectors are

-  IMS “Ionic Mobility Spectrometry”: this detector is practically universal, have an Ni63 source, that make a weak ionization of interested compounds, in the collector the different compounds “ions” generate a specific signal, and have and specific delay. This two variables generate an ion mobility spectra specific for this compound. The IMS is and sensitive and selective detector, utile for the analysis of Chemical Ware Agents (CWA), Nervous agents (Gaa,GB, Gda, Gf, VX9), vesicants  (HD, HN3,L) and blood agents (A,CK)

- PID: Photo Ionization Detector: This detector use high energy photons, general in the UV zone, this photons broke the molecules an obtain charged positive ions. After that, the ions arrive to the UV detector and emit energy. This detector is very sensitive for hydrocarbons compounds.

- EC “Electrochemical cell”. This detector make REDOX reactions in the interest compounds. The system have a CLO2 membrane for the Redox reaction, The potential that we obtains is characteristic of the compounds. This is a selective detector, for the analysis of phosphine. In combination with IMS and PID you will have and unequivocal identification

- 2 MOS “Metal Oxide Sensors”, This sensor is manufactured with oxide of tin, and measure the electric resistance, this resistant depends of the compound (Inorganic or organic) and is based in catalytically reactions. These sensors work at 200-400ºC

The combination of this detectors provide a fingerprint for all compounds. The system have on library with this fingerprints, the system compare the obtained results with the library, if the compounds is in the library the instrument inform in the screen with the name of the compound  and the concentration. The instrument only will inform the concentration if is calibrated with this compound, if the instrument isn’t calibrated only will inform about the compound.

The system have different level alarms, (visuals and sound):

- Level 1: Inform about the presence of VOC’s, in the screen appear the channels that identify the substances (A Ammonium, B Acid gases, Chloric gases, C Polar substances electro positives, D polar substances electro negative, E,F REDOX substances, G electrochemical reactive substances, H aromatic substances, Hydrocarbons.

- Level 2: When the concentration of a substance passes a value that we have predefined, sounding and alarm, and the instrument protect the sensors, with a dilution gas

- Level 3: the substance is identified, and the name and concentration appear in the screen

The instrument include a library with 139 compounds that corresponds to the AEGL list “Acute Exposure Guideline Levels” and other with CWA, The libraries can be customized for the customer application.

The Detection and identification with the libraries is very fast. The system requires only 8 seconds to identify the compounds, after that the instrument need 30 seconds for cleaning and you can proceed to the next analysis, reporting data continuously every 38 seconds
