ALEXYS Phenols Analyzer
Chlorophenols and nitrophenols are used in industry and agriculture for several purposes. In the end they may be found in river or drinking water. The MAC (maximum admissible concentration) in the EEC countries for phenols in drinking water is 0.5 μg/L. In the 70’s the US environmental protection agency (EPA) made a list of the eleven most important phenol contaminants as priority pollutants. The ALEXYS Phenols Analyser is routinely applied for analysis of environmental phenols using an isocratic or gradient LC system. Detection limits in the low PPB range are obtained. By using on-column sample enrichment in combination with large volume in jection the detection limits are easily improved by a factor 10 – 100.
- On column sample enrichment
- Low PPB detection limit
- Gradient or isocratic
System configuration
For the analysis of phenols we selected the SenCell with HyREF reference electrode. This cell not only has an excellent reproducibility but also the best possible detection sensitivity. The HyREF is maintenance free, and compatible with high modifier percentages. A 2 mL injection loop is added for large volume injections. The ALEXYS system comprises the following parts:
- AS 100 autosampler, cool
- LC 110S HPLC pump
- OR 110 organiser rack
- Clarity data acquisition software
- DECADE II electrochemical detector
- SenCell with GC WE, HyREF
The isocratic HPLC system has an additional OR 100 pulsedamper option and a LC 110 pump for a high pressure gradient.
